Barrel Wear Inspection |
|
|
Maverick Systems Corporation can perform an I.D. measurement (barrel wear inspection) on your barrels and give you a detailed report of the contour inside the barrel. There are several reasons why the barrel may be showing excess signs of wear. These reasons may include alignment issues, causing metal to metal friction, improper screw design for your application, mixture is too abrasive, and so on. With the knowledge of the wear pattern and contour inside the barrel, you will have a better understanding of what's creating the problems and a guide for correcting them.
We take I.D. readings every inch throughout the length of the barrel generating raw data at each point. That data is used to create our report illustrating the barrel wear condition.
Our illustrative barrel wear measurement report is exclusive to Maverick; we generate the reports to give you a visual indication of the wear in the barrel, not just a string of raw data that may be confusing. The barrel wear inspection report is an illustration revealing any graduation in size of the inner diameter along the full length of the barrel.
In the report you will see the contour inside the barrel and the area of the barrel that has wear. (Feed section, transition section, or metering section as it relates to the screw zones).
Details of all barrel wear are provided and the worst case will be in red.
A data box of the screw zones, in relationship to the barrel, includes 3 readings in each zone. This information may be helpful to the screw provider.
Feed Throat InspectionMaverick Systems also provides feed throat measurement, which can be done at the same time as the barrel inspection. This will ensure your feed throat is within tolerance of your barrel or if you need to have the feed throat reworked. Access to the feed throat, by disconnecting the feed hopper from the feed throat, should be provided prior to arrival of the Maverick technician.
You can also see an example of a complete report. |
